 WORSHIP SERVICES AT ST. PAUL’S

This summer, join us on Sundays at 10 a.m. in our beautiful air-conditioned sanctuary for an hour-long traditional service that is Biblically-based and tailored to help us encounter God in the midst of our contemporary lives.  To quote the United Church of Christ (our denominational family’s) constitution,  “We look to the Word of God in the Scriptures, and to the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, to prosper our creative and redemptive work in the world. We claim as our own the faith of the historic Church expressed in the ancient creeds and reclaimed in the basic insights of the Protestant Reformers. And we affirm the responsibility of the Church in each generation to make this faith its own in reality of worship, in honesty of thought and expression, and in purity of heart before God.”

But that’s not all! Jesus said, “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another.  Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.” (John 13:34).  We at Saint Paul’s believe strongly in these words, so plan to stick around after church for refreshments at 11 o’clock.  This relaxed time of fellowship is crucial to who we are and what we believe.  Please join us and experience the friendliness that is so typical at St. Paul’s!

We celebrate Holy Communion (the Lord’s Supper) on the first Sunday of every month (plus special occasions, like Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Easter, and Christmas Eve), and invite all followers of Jesus Christ, no matter what denomination or tradition, to join us.  In keeping with our emphasis on fellowship, we share the bread and grape juice with you in your seat, and then eat and drink together.

The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated as needed to welcome the children of God (of any age) into our midst.  If you are interested in being baptized, having your child baptized, or simply learning more, please speak with our pastor on Sunday morning.

Confirmation and the Reception of New Members are special rites in which teenagers and adults join our church in a covenant of love and service.  The pastor offers classes for persons interested in becoming members.  Please speak with him on Sunday morning to learn more.

Weddings and marriage vow renewal ceremonies (Matthew 19:5-6) can be arranged by calling our pastor at (724) 342-2310.

Pastor David Williamson will lead a lively worship service for the residents of Whispering Oaks on South Buhl Farm Drive on September 2nd at 4 p.m.  The Rev. Julia Williamson will lead worship at The Ridgewood of Shenango Valley, a United Church of Christ-related assisted living community just down the hill from UPMC Farrell, on August 22nd, and Pastor David will lead worship on September 5th and September 12th.
